my favorite lotion

Thanks to a very special client of mine, I received some products from a local company that I've fallen in love with.  Thymes is based in Minneapolis.
They create luxurious bath and body products that smell blissful.  I suffer from very dry ichy skin in the winter and their body cream hydrates my skin better than the majority of brands.  And the fragrances are refreshing, not overbearing.

Muppets

Growing up I was a HUGE Muppet fan!  I loved the show, the music, the memorabilia and everything Muppet realated. I was in the fan club, had Muppet parties and Muppet Birthday cakes, and my room looked like the Muppets had moved in with me. Something about those cute characters connected with me.  I have no idea why I was thinking about Muppets today, but it made me smile.  If a Muppet lived near by, I would go hug one today!

Someday we'll find it, the Rainbow Connection, The lovers, the dreamers and me!
From the Song The Rainbow Connection in The Muppet Movie

Here's hoping you have a "Muppet Moment" of your own today that makes you smile!

Take some time...

We are all busy and sometimes we just don't take the time to do things we should, like write a note to somebody you care about.  Have you ever had an inkling to write somebody a note and let them know what they mean to you?  How many times have you actually written a note in response to your intuition to do so?  Have you ever regretted not writing the note?  The very next time you have a desire to write somebody a note, do it!  Let them know how much you care about them.  We all need to do that more.  Even if you just send a pre-written card that simply says "Thinking of you", would be fine.  By sending a card or letter, you will make the recipients day and that is just such an awesome thing to do for somebody.

Check out Bridging the Universe's website for some wonderful cards that might be perfect for what you need:

Why do we crave sweets?

There are many reason why people crave sweets, and I'm not just talking about candy.  Our body recognizes carbohydrates as sugars as well.  Simple Carbohydrates are the white breads, pastas and pastries.  Complex carbohydrates on the other hand are the whole grains and vegetables which take longer to digest and don't cause a spike in our blood sugar levels.  The cravings happen most often for candy and simple carbs.  Why is that?  Why does our body crave the stuff that is bad for us.   Life would be so much easier if we could just all crave vegetables.  But that would be to easy.  As the saying goes.... Anything worth having is worth fighting for.  And in this example it is so true.  Some reasons for carb cravings could be:  Hypoglycemia, Candida overgrowth and the Menstrual cycle
The good news is that those causes can be fixed by dietary changes so the cravings have less and less hold over you.  I found an article that explains this in more depth.

Getting Older......

I just returned from the eye Doctor and I had mentioned to her that I have been seeing some flashing in the lower right corner of my right eye that I was concerned about.  With a smile, she told me basically I am getting old.  (YES!!!! Now my day is complete!!!!)
Apparently, this is common when the gel behind your eye is moving around as we age.
(BONUS!!! I LOVE TO HEAR ABOUT GELS AND CRAP IN MY BODY TRYING TO ADAPT TO MY ANCIENT SELF!!!)
That, combined with needing to hold things away from my eyes JUST A LITTLE BIT, are things I have to look forward to as I get older.
(NOT to say this is happening but its what I have heard :)
I guess today is the first day of me getting older.

On the bright side, I am not suffering from a brain tumor that causes flashing vision.  (So I needlessly have been worrying about that for a week, which probably caused more grey hair and wrinkles - another lovely sign of aging.  I just can't win.)

Growing old is mandatory; growing up is optional.

Music and working out

The other day, I was working out and my ipod's battery went dead.  I immediately stopped and had a hard time getting back into my routine.  I am someone who can't workout unless I have some sort of beat going and the ability to dance in between exercises (yes, I work out at home).  That day was probably the most boring and difficult workout I've had in a while.  Not because I worked out harder, but because I didn't have music to keep my energy up and keep my mind off the fatigue.  It seems, there is a scientific explanation for this.  Studies have found that music helps keep your mind off fatigue and muscle soreness, allowing you to work out harder and longer than you would without the uplifting beats.  I did a little research and found a good article about some studies that were done on exercise and music.  Check it out if you are so inclined.  Otherwise try it for  yourself.  Next time you're working out, put on some good dance music and have fun.  Yes, I said fun.  Which is what working out should be.  Do some exercise and than dance.  I should probably specify that the workouts (if your including the dancing) might best be done at home.  Unless your one of those people who just doesn't care what anyone else thinks of your dance moves, in that case... bless you!
