Jordan Art Festival (continued)

I also did get some pictures from the Jordan Art Festival, but I am a few days behind Dawn-Marie.  I do wish she would have been there when I was getting these pictures.  She worked very hard setting up our booth and making all the signs.  So a huge Thank You to Dawn-Marie!

Have a great July 4th! Pamela Healing Essence Massage

Happy Wednesday ~ Happy Summer!

Thank you Mother Nature!  What a gift you have given us today.  I hate to say I told you so, but back on April 20, I did tell you all that Mother Nature promised me she had a beautiful summer in store for us!  I hope you get to enjoy some of the day - take a quick walk on your lunch hour or better yet, stop  by the farmers market on your way home.  We are open 4 to 7 today at Court Square Park.  Along with the beautiful sun comes plenty of fresh produce.  Last weeks strawberries were a wonderful treat - get them while they are in their prime!

Enjoy!

Weight Loss - Are You Insane?

The definition of Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again but expecting different results.
In the case of weight loss there are definitely some insane people out there.  They try the same type of diet over and over again but expect this time to be different.  Something's gotta change.  When most people try and lose weight they either focus on diet or exercise. But fail to address the cause of the weight  issue.... our emotional health.  It's the biggest weight loss secret out there.

You don't lose weight by restricting your food or exercising for hours a day.  Well, let me rephrase that... you can lose weight, but you won't keep it off  because you can't keep with that restrictive diet or that kind of exercise program for long.  And what happens when that diet or exercise program is over?   You get back to your old habits and gain all the weight back, plus some.   Only by addressing  your emotional health and taking care of you mental and spiritual wellbeing will you lose weight and keep it off.

Think of it like this...  Weight, is just a symptom of a much deeper issue.  Take care of yourself, get your emotional and spiritual needs met and get on a healthy eating plan (note that I didn't say diet, it shouldn't be restrictive), and be active, the weight will come off.  And even better yet, it will stay off.

Jordan Art Festival

Here are a few shots of our booth at the Jordan Art Festival, last weekend.  Pamela got some, too, and hopefully she will soon post them.  Somehow my camera kept switching settings, and half of my photos were too dark to bother uploading, so some of the members and their displays aren't shown.

Farmers Market Today!

I invite all of you to stop in at the Market today!  I know the weather is not the best, but our dedicated vendors are there rain or shine with wonderful fresh produce, baked goods and more.  Today is our monthly bake-off.  To participate, simply make something using STRAWBERRIES, bring it to the market and let the judges savor the flavor!  You just may walk away with a prize.  The Farmers Market is in it's third season and is off to a wonderful start.  There is nothing better then purchasing local, home grown produce right from the hands of the grower.  The Market provides a family friendly enviornment with a park and dinner for purchase so you don't even have to cook on Wednesday nights!  Tonight, the mission trip participants from St. John Lutheran School will be cooking up walking tacos and more. Make Wednesday nights "market night" for you and your family.

Enjoy the day ~ Hope to see you at the Market!

BITCHes Empowered

The word BITCH has a very negative meaning, meant to degrade and disrespect women for being strong and assertive.  I have a new definition of BITCH that will leave all you beautiful women wondering where you can sign up.  BITCH is a compliment.  I am starting a movement and I need all you women to join me.  Invite all your moms, sister and friends to participate.  Here is my definition of BITCH:

A BITCH is Bold - She lives an authentic life and lives it loudly.  Following her passions and dreams.
A BITCH is Intuitive -  She trusts in her feelings and listens to her own inner guidance.
A BITCH is Tough - She goes after what she wants and doesn’t accept “no” for an answer.
A BITCH is Courageous - She can feel fear but do what she feels she needs to do anyways.
A BITCH is a Heroine in her own life - She know it is her responsibility and right to live the life of her dreams. and she makes herself a priority.

Many women, are scared to assert themselves, or go after what they want, cause they're afraid of being a bitch.  Well, one way to get rid of that fear is to actually make being a BITCH a goal.  It's a goal to be bold,  intuitive, tough, courageous and a heroine in her own life.  It's harder to fear something you truly want.  Being a bitch is not a put down, it's a compliment.

Being a BITCH is not about being aggressive, rather it's about being assertive.
Being a BITCH is not about being selfish, but rather about making yourself one of your priorities.

Who doesn't want that?  So all you women out there who want to make a new commitment to yourself to be a BITCH,  Leave a comment and simply state "my name is ______, and I'm a BITCH"

Check out my website,  www.calmwatershypnosis.com   for more information on my BITCHes Empowered program and the availability of individual and group sessions.

Have a beautiful day BITCHes,

Weight loss support group

I am sooo excited!!!!  Last night was the first weight loss support group for my previous weight loss clients.  It always bothered me that after the one on one sessions were completed, my clients were pretty much on their own unless they were able to continue sessions.  Weight loss is a journey and more often than not, it's not completed in the 5 weeks that we worked together.  So I made available a support group.  We meet once a month and I think it will be invaluable for the continued success of my clients.  It's a way to help my clients continue to be  focused on their goal of weight loss, and I'm so happy that I get to continue to be a part of that with them.

It never ceases to amaze me, how strong, beautiful, smart and compassionate women are.  As with most people who have struggled with weight, they've tried everything and have so much knowledge that they could probably write a book. They have so much knowledge to share with others who are on the same path but have a hard time seeing in themselves a solution to their struggles.  It sometimes takes an outside person to shine that light for them.  It's so beneficial having the support and strength of others.

If you are not able to participate in my support group, I would encourage everyone to develop some sort of support system, either from family or friends,  coach or counselor, or whomever can inspire you and challenge you to keep fighting to reach your goal.

Happiness...

The Earth

The Earth, I love the earth and all the people in it. It helps you live, and it is where we live. I don't like it when people hurt it. I think it is very sad for itself, the people, and the animals in it. like when we have oil spills a lot of animals die because of that. I think that we should be more careful, like if we are going to a close by friend or neighbor we might not have to take a car we could ride a bike or rollerblade. The earth never grows old it stays young and all things in it like mountains, rivers, ponds, plains ext. they are alwase are fun to look at but we are makeing them very dirty and dark, dont like looking at trash in oceans. I wonder how they looked a long time ago, I think they looked GREAT. I hope in a long time we can reduce, reuse, and recycle everything! BYE!

Weight loss, how to set yourself up for success

For many people embarking on a weight loss program is given only a thought.  One morning they wake up and today is the day, I'm going to lose weight, watch what I eat and exercise.  Those are great goals but a little preparation goes a long way.  Most people put very little thought into how they are going to lose weight and what lifestyle changes they need to make, and than everyday they monitor their weight and obsess over the weight not coming off fast enough or heaven forbid you have a slip and eat something that wasn't part of the plan.
The ideal way to go about any weight loss program is to start with a detailed plan.
Here are some good questions to ask yourself:
  • Really figure out how your going to eat healthier.
  • how often you're going to exercise,
  • why type of exercises do you want to do,
  • How long will your work outs be.
  • what time of day do you feel more like working out
  • What foods do you want to avoid (than get them out of your home)
  • What foods do you want to eat more of (make sure your fridge is stocked)
  • How are you going to handle anger, sadness, boredom etc... (if your an emotional eater)
  • What are your emotional triggers
  • Do you have a support system in place (friends, family, coach, support group)
By doing the planning ahead of time, you set yourself up for success.  Don't skip the emotional work, that's the most overlooked but in my opinion, most important part of the weight loss process.
Once a plan is in place, just focus on taking the steps and give up the obsession with the outcome.  It will take care of itself.  Don't weigh yourself everyday,  or even count the calories.  Stay in the present moment and know that you're being healthy and doing something good for yourself.

What does Namaste mean?

Do you know what "Namaste" means?

During the closing of a yoga class at Mystic Journey "Namaste" is often stated.
For a teacher and student, Namaste allows two individuals to come together energetically to a place of connection and timelessness, free from the bonds of ego-connection. If it is done with deep feeling in the heart and with the mind surrendered, a deep union of spirits can blossom.
To perform Namaste, we place the hands together at the heart chakra, close the eyes, and bow the head. We bring the hands together at the heart chakra to increase the flow of Divine love. Bowing the head and closing the eyes helps the mind surrender to the Divine in the heart.

I honor the place in you in which the entire universe dwells.
I honor the place in you which is of truth, of light and of peace.
When you are in that place in you
and I am in that place in me
we are one.
And so I say to you.....Namaste!

It had been a tough day at preschool for Freddie.
